A yellow scraper smoothing repair paste over a wall

Fixing nail holes before you paint

Small holes are a quick job. Most of the time goes to waiting for the paste to dry.

Wipe the wall first so the paste has something clean to stick to. For nail and screw holes, press the nozzle against the hole and squeeze until it's full.

Anything bigger than a nail hole needs a mesh patch. Press the patch over the hole, then spread paste across it with the scraper, a little wider than the patch.

Pull the scraper across in one pass so the paste sits level with the wall. Let it dry fully. Sand it with the disc from the kit until you can't feel the edge, then paint to match.

First projects with a 3D pen

The stencil booklet in every filament pack is the best place to start. Flat shapes first, then things that stand up.

Lay a sheet of paper over a stencil and trace the outline. Fill the shape in with back-and-forth lines, and peel it off the paper once it's cool.

Keep the pen moving at a steady speed. Too slow and the line gets lumpy. Too fast and it breaks.

Once you have a few flat pieces, join them at the edges with a dab of filament. A cube is six squares. A house is four walls and two roof pieces.

How to measure your door for a magnetic screen

Measure the frame, not the door. Then add two inches each way.

Open the door and measure the inside of the frame, side to side and top to bottom. Leave out the hinges and any trim.

Add 2 inches to the width and 2 inches to the height. That's the screen size you want. A 34 x 80 in frame takes our 36 x 82 in screen.

Sliding patio doors up to 72 in wide take our 74 x 82 in screen. Not sure about your numbers? Send them to us and we'll check before you order.

Moving a card collection out of shoeboxes

Elastic bands and loose stacks bend corners. A binder keeps every card flat and easy to find.

Sort the cards first: by team, by season or by player, whichever way you'll look for them later.

Each page in our binder has 18 pockets, 9 on each side, and the binder holds up to 900 standard cards. Put one card in each pocket so they don't rub.

Zip the binder closed before it goes in a backpack or on a shelf. The zipper keeps cards from sliding out if it tips over.
